In 2022, the Canadian Country Music Awards ignited Calgary, Alberta, with creativity and music! As a local muralist, I added to the excitement by crafting an outdoor mural blending the Rockies with Canadian country vibes. My piece captured the city's spirit, enhancing its status as a dynamic hub for public art and cultural celebration.

We all could use a compelling reminder to stop trying to always take life on by yourself. What better place than on a big wall in your special place?

The public art installation in Calgary's inner city resonated with vibrancy, connection, and belonging, uniting the Crescent Heights Community. It bridged the Crescent Heights Village BIA's advocacy for its members with the Community Association's commitment to a safe, vibrant neighborhood where everyone feels included—a testament to the power of public art in fostering community spirit and cohesion.

In summer 2021, I collaborated with fellow muralist Kiran Rai on the Sawa Local Market and Cafe Mural, a community-driven urban art project in Calgary's Mount Pleasant. With input from locals, we crafted a 700 sq/ft mural celebrating diversity, featuring elements like multiculturalism and community unity. Supported by the "Stepping Stones Grant" from The City of Calgary and the Calgary Foundation, it's located at 2604 4 St NW.

We've brought the first part of this three-piece mural to life with the students. But it's just the beginning! Excitingly, they've invited us back to continue this tradition over the next three years. Every graduating class will have the chance to leave their mark, learning the art of mural painting. Here's to creativity, teamwork, and many more colourful adventures ahead!

Invited to join Airdrie's public art program for Canada's 150th anniversary, I embraced color as a symbol of freedom and change. From my Mexican heritage, I bring a tradition of vibrant living. My aim? To inspire others to create boldly and freely, nurturing a new generation of color enthusiasts. Thirty benches across Airdrie's residential communities became colorful destinations, offering creative seating for all.
